Contemporary Legend Theatre’s King Lear sought to fuse the singing, acting, reciting, and acrobatic fighting of traditional Chinese Opera with William Shakespeare’s tragedy. The performance subverted audiences’ notions of Peking Opera and created a new aesthetic of the eastern stage.
